We are currently seeking Material Handlers to support our warehouse operations by managing inventory, ensuring accuracy, and facilitating the efficient movement of goods.
Job Overview:
The Material Handler will be responsible for receiving, storing, selecting, and preparing various types and quantities of merchandise for packaging and shipment. The role involves a range of warehousing tasks such as handling incoming inventory, processing materials, and ensuring accurate documentation and quality control. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to follow established procedures, and physical stamina for moving and organizing materials within the warehouse environment.
Responsibilities:
• Receive, store, select, and package merchandise for shipment, ensuring the correct type, size, and quantity are processed.
• Verify physical condition of incoming inventory by referencing shipping documents, catalogs, and related materials.
• Utilize computer systems and programs for accurate tracking, quality control, and inventory management.
• Maintain the “first-in-first-out” (FIFO) inventory system to ensure stock locations and rotations are correctly followed.
• Organize and maintain stock in designated storage areas, preventing damage, deterioration, or loss.
• Use manual and mechanized equipment such as hand lifts, pallet jacks, or forklifts to move, stack, and position materials.
• Handle and process mail and parcels using various carriers, including USPS, FedEx, and UPS, and maintain an accurate reporting system for manifesting and metering.
• Conduct routine quality checks to identify discrepancies, defects, and merchandise acceptability.
• Assemble and disassemble industrial shelving, furniture, and equipment as required.
• Follow all warehouse safety procedures and policies to ensure a safe working environment.
• Complete data entry and prepare necessary documents manually or using automated systems such as barcode scanners and computer terminals.
• Log receipts, storage, and shipment data to ensure accurate records of materials and equipment movement.
• Assist with inventory audits and physical counts of warehouse stock as needed.
Requirements:
• Knowledge of warehouse operations, plans, methods, and procedures.
• Ability to locate, access, load, and move materials for shipment accurately and efficiently.
• Proficient in using automated equipment such as barcode scanners, optical readers, and computer systems for data entry.
• Experience with receiving, separating, dismantling, sorting, and testing medical devices is a plus.
• Ability to handle and store materials safely in a supply facility.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform similar tasks for extended periods on concrete floors.
• Capability to lift and carry loads weighing up to 70 pounds, with assistance or equipment available for heavier items.
• Proficient with inventory software and systems for tracking and documenting materials movement.
• Ability to observe and follow safety practices and guidelines in the warehouse environment.
